hmm I didn't know the Sigma is THAT bad :O
I personally really hated the Canon 50mm f1.8II but mostly because it's crappy build and slow/loud AF. While bokeh is quite good at f1.8 but kind of crappy at higher f numbers.

That's pretty much normal, considering the focal length.

Well I was talking about the 5 aperture blades which produce small pentagons at higher f numbers. I know it is kind of unfair to compare it to higher end lenses but other than the low price and decent center sharpness it is quite bad.

Is the Canon 50mm really that bad? Don't forget though the focal length does play an important role in bokeh quality.

just scroll down and read what they say about bokeh produced by that lens.

Do you mean the longer the focal length the shallower the DOF would be hence the better bokeh?
Well I know for sure that the 35mm f1.4 produces more pleasant bokeh then again it is a much higher end lens.

:( This has really affected me. Gonna have to do the whole amazon buy / return for equipment emergencies until prices drop.

Not illegal if you have a legittimate reason to return. Those aren't hard to find: )
