Cool mate, gotta pay the bills! You should try and get some work photographing for your local paper. It'd be a good learning curve and you are improving heaps :)

Just starting to really get back into PC gaming. Was on and off for a long time but used to game a lot back in the day, probably 10-15 years ago. I could probably sell my psu/gpu for something better. Probably not worth a whole lot anymore though

Hah, 4 i7's. You are a dedicated guy, and liquid nitrogen is just fkn extreme man.

What did you end up getting it to on N2?

I wish i have time for anything else besides managing my dad's business... On a good week, i clock in at least 75 hours, and on bad weeks.. 90+ hours a week -_-.

I used to game alot also.. but somehow it just doesn't seem to interest me as much now.. maybe im getting old :( Primary purpose of my GTX480 is just folding for stanford.

I got my i7 920 just 25mhz shy of 5ghz on LN2. :P But i also did manage to push my old skt775 celeron 347 to 6.9ghz :evillol:

Eek is right about the L bug. Once you go L, you'll return non-L lenses :D
I swear, my car is all beat up, I need a new suit, I hardly have any clothes, and sometimes I run out of food money - but I had to have the 70-200 L IS MKII.

Dude.. i'm just like you. My old EK Hatch finally gave out.. i drove that thing to the ground, drove it with no 2nd gear for roughly 3 years now.. the tranny died. Now i'm driving my dad's work van. I dunno why i'm still spending money on lenses when i should be buying a new car -_-

LOL

I used to spend cash on cars/clothes now it's work gear and soon to be PC's :(

Hmm need to buy some property me thinks.

When i was in HS, i had a EVO XIII, i threw tons of money into it.. but then i totaled it, only had liability insurance >_< I miss that car :(

Rar.

This happened about 2.5 hours in :(

Haha, it's gonna take a few tries. Overclocking is lots of trial and error. Lets add .25v more to the vtt/qpi. Some chips like high qpi and some hate it, lets see if adding more will satisfy it.. If not, we need to back it down.

Ahh you sound like a bloody busy guy. You should hire an assistant :) What does your old man do (if you don't mind me asking)

5ghz and 6.9ghz sounds off it's face! lol

Evo8, not bad mate :)
A good mate of mine had an EVO 9 which he pumped a bit of money into it for track days and extra horsies. At one stage he was pulling 280kw at all four wheels ^ ^

Sold it for an rx7 series 7 though, silly boy. Never really been into the Jap cars, although I loved driving the EVO :)

Yep, i'm surprised i still have time for my own things actually. :D My dad doesn't really work anymore, he stops by every once in awhile then he's off again doing whatever. Semi-retired.

kw? I'm not familiar with that measurement. Not sure what mine has, i've never taken it to the dyno even though i had friends who had access to one at a shop. Mine probably has roughly 315hp at the tranny. I had a new cold intake, new headers, exhaust (zomg my tanabe exhaust tone was killer :O), and a new clutch.. i've tore the stock clutch up  that's pretty much all i've done on performance.. as for looks.. i swapped out the stock enkeis for a set of Volk te-37 :P

But now i'm driving a mini-van.. Sigh :( But when you get the chance.. definitely take a evo around town, thing is an absolute blast to drive.. i've driven quite a few cars and none seems to have the "personality" of an Evo.

P.S- I noticed i typed XIII instead of VIII lol.

Nice! Where do you wanna go from now? trim ram or push for clocks?

Ahh, the US still haven't adopted kilowatts, just like it hasn't adopted metric :/ lol

Kilowatts = Power (HP) x 0.7457

So he would of had 375hp at the wheels. It was a thrill to drive :)

What should I do? Play with ram or push a little higher? I'm not sure I like where my max load temps are :/ I might lap the HS and maybe the cpu to get it a little cooler.

kw sounds like a complicated measurement rofl.

375hp at the wheels must be hella fun when hell breaks lose. Mine accounting for roughly 20% lost at tranny probably has estimated 255hp to the wheel. Man, that was fun.. can't imagine 375

Are you satisfied with 3.83ghz? It's still a healthy 1ghz overclock completely stable ;)

I can help you get 4.0 if you wish.. It's your call man.

Theres a thread i made about 2 years ago in regards to lapping in profile, might wanna check it out ;) Lists all the materials that you need.

375 was just ballistic stuff, especially sliding out of corners

4.0ghz on air is like the benchmark for 930's isn't it? How much higher will it raise the temps?

I lapped a HS/CPU a few years ago and it came out pretty good but I'll check over the thread again ^ ^ Cheers

edit: I worked for an engineer for 3 years so I'm pretty handy with a tool and have a lot at my disposal (lathes, cnc's, mills, welders etc etc)

True, but it's high end air coolers that get 4.0~ on air.

As long as we don't raise the voltage, temp should stay around the same area. Depending on how good your chip is, 1.325v should still have some life left in it for a few more mhz.

The early batch of 930s are phenomenal, but lately the 930s are getting worst. The older 920 d0's beat them : /

How do I know whether my 930 is decent or not?

It's currently sitting 3885 mhz, would pumping it to3.9 harm it without running prime again?

No, but if it's unstable.. it could crash mid-way in your work. Could lose whatever it is you're doing at the time, I stress my final o/c setting vigorously to make sure it's completely stable.

That's a good point. Was 7 hours long enough?
