CF cards are so much better though.

And they have faster transfer speeds, aren't quite as easy to lose, and can physically hold more data. However, that's pretty much become useless. Having cards that can hold anything more than 300 photos is somewhat stupid.

I have to disagree with you here...
During a horse show I fill up my card with over 1600 photos in a single day.... and I must be careful so I don't run out of space... :(

I'm not trying to be mean, but that is a very very bad idea. You should never hold your entire lot of photos on one card. What happens if you happen to lose or break the card? Or perhaps it gets wiped somehow?

You'd be S.O.L. I would suggest that your next investment be at least one other card, even if it is a smaller one, just so that you could separate all your photos.

I'd rather have 5 cards with 300 photos a piece than 1 card with 1500 photos.

I would never change a card during a horse show.. Seems I'll have to do it now caure the only card the store was holding is a 4 Gb..
Plus, with my other camera, I have never ever took it off so how might I lose it?
I am very careful with my gear.
Now to change the card means I'll have to leave the horse show to find a clean dust free spot, miss a few riders, and come back, and hope not to misplace the cards...
A horse show and a sand storm in a desert is very similar... not a place to be changing cards or batteries...

I've never been to a horse show, but I have been in a mild sandstorm. Just put your back to the wind pull out a card case and swap them quick. There isn't enough dust flying around to harm anything. And even if you are too paranoid, get a big plastic bag and change the card in there.

you really do not need to worry about that amount of dust getting into the cf and/or battery compartments
obv dont change lenses etc
i live in dubai and often shoot out in the desert, trust me it wont harm a thing
