Found a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens (version II, with internal focusing motor) on sale for $650. I'm taking a look into this. Pretty excited if the dealer has them in stock.

Looked into it, functions very well at 15mm and 16mm on full frame, barrel vignetting starts very slightly (might even be correctable) at 14mm.

Tried to today :( Called in. I got a weird run-around on the phone, basically they said they don't have it in and they don't want to order it in. Really weird.

I may order it through bhphotovideo from the US, have it shipped here, and that should be good. My biggest qualm is product variation (I shouldn't be into photography if I worry so much about it, or rather... I should've gotten a camera with focus fine tune adjustment so that wouldn't be such an issue).

I'm back to the drawing board.

edit:
I'm going to take my setup camping in a couple weeks. I'll bring my 50mm, 85mm, and 70-300 VR (I might leave the 85mm at home even though it's my absolute favorite lens). I'll see what I'm lacking after the trip.

I think out of my choices, I may just suck it up and get a full frame next year and not get an ultra-wide for a long time to come. That will make my 50mm and 85mm more useful, and my 70-300 VR might end up feeling pretty bad afterward. I feel like I'm screwing around with my setups.
