I have MUAs that do this, though some of my models can do their own. These models are typically multi-talented girls.
Sometimes I will let them do their own make-up, other times I will have one of my MUAs do it. My MUAs are hair trained as well. My assistant is also air brush trained, beside handling lights and what not.
Makes my life somewhat easier.
Edit: What most people fail to realize (except real MUAs) is that make-up for everyday use is a little different than make-up for photography or cinematography. There is a difference in techniques and application to make it look the best in the medium (stillls or motion picture). So if the model isn't MUA trained, I won't let her even if she says she's a girl and knows how to put on make-up.
Exactly right except I wouldn't let a model do their own makeup. I'm not changing my art direction or lighting for a shit MU job. In fact, I won't even begin a shoot unless I have a stylist/MUA/hair/assistant on board (in that order of importance although the assistant isn't TOO important sometimes)
I feel a stylist is the most important on a shoot because no matter how good the pictures/MU/hair is, if the styling is off, it's all fucked.
I'm lucky to have a girl that is a fashion stylist/MUA and can do hair.
