Wow... only 800? That seems too cheap. I don't blame you for staying home!

$800 ... and I guarantee they will get a crappy product and not all the shots they want. They probably hired some pup wet behind the ears with a Rebel XSI who's never made more than their weekly allowance by dad.

Personally, I'd charge $5500-$8000 for the entire day and for that amount of headshots depending on what they want captured at the event. Maybe more, depends on what they say. Depends on the size of their company, and how they are using the photos. If it's a company like Microsoft, Apple, Intel, or any company in the Fortune 500 I'd add a couple thousand to those numbers easily....easily. It's not uncommon for these events to cost $15-20k for photography for 1 day. Don't let these companies rip you off, if they are big companies that can pay, or even mid sized companies ... they seek naive newbies who want "credit" and blah blah. Small businesses, I would still charge but be a little lenient and demand they are a little lenient in what they want.

Why would I charge my rate above?

Realistically, I'd have to hire 2-3 more photographers to be able to deliver a good product. That's 2-3 people on the event depending on the size of the venue, what's needed and wanted, etc. and atleast myself on headshots maybe another. I might have to rent more gear. Never walk in with 1 camera, have copies because things go wrong at the worst of times.

Then there's the 75 headshots in a day which is insane. If you're doing it right, ie instructing people on how to pose to look good it takes a little longer than. I can shoot a great headshot in 5 minutes, 10 on people who are "stiff" and that's because I've studied Peter Hurley extensively. But not everyone can.

But then there is the post processing. I don't release un-retouched images. It's my company and my studio that's reflected upon by the quality of output files. There is no "option" for unretouched images.

I might batch process the event stuff and then visually inspect each one, but I'd want the headshots to look good and that would require a little more.

But that's me and that's my market and being in business there is more overhead than someone living in their mom's basement who likely are not licensed, have no insurance, don't buy legit software, don't own expensive gear, don't hire other pros as second shooters, etc. etc.

Thank you for not selling yourself short.

Thank you!! Exactly my point!
I had someone I was going to hire who is retired from the business but used to have her own studio, I was going to rent another camera and the full lighting set up...
Plus it's 13 hours in a row of work... 800???? no thank you

Prices in Quebec are not as high as in the USA, if I compare let's say, weddings. But I have also asked another photographer who does corporate sruff and I came up with a pricing a little above his, just because I wouldn't do it for his price.
Un-retouched images???? haha same here!
