well if you want it to last a year or two then get a d90, they're down in price since the d7000 was released.

Is the D90 better then the T3i? Which is more preferred, Nikon or Canon, and what would be a good starter lens or two?

T3i Kit with 55-250
The 250 isnt the best lens buts its great to start off with to cover the basic ranges and to decide on what you want to do.
With kit lens you should have 18-55 and 55-250, if you want you can get her a 50mm its a superb quality lens for 120 or so.

haha no worries...thanks...ya the T3i is kind of what I think we are going to get...in store it's like $899...and online off craigslist there's a few people that have it vs $650 new in box...so is there any way to verify that the camera would be new? They say it has the warranty card too...

d90 is better than t3i i think yes. it has been a great camera for me for the last couple years. upgraded to canon 5d mk ii recently

for cheaper camera bodies Nikon is much better imo

Ya I'd love to get a 5D Mark II...sexy, but way out of my league lol...anyone else think D90 > then T3i?

i think capability wise they are the same pretty much but for beginners Nikons are better manufactured and their cheaper lenses are well made. Nikkor lenses.

Ok, what about the 5100 vs t31 & d90?

Some people say the 5100 is better, i am not completely sure because i have not used the 5100. better go to outside reviews to read about them, just go to google and type nikon d90 vs. d5100 should get plenty of info
