It depends on the viewer, I used to do photoshop and it was poorly done.
Theres no Bg the ground is clearly fake the horse is a render and missing a foot.

Oh, totally never noticed.. well I'm sure Marie isn't looking for the mistakes. She just wanted the effect. I thought the effect was cool, but like others said it's poorly done.

I am looking to learn how to make the effect, but I have no knowledge about brushes.... so I have no idea what you are talking about :(
Anyone could be more specific and use noob (me) language please?
Thanks.

Oh and the ground is probably not fake, as most footings are sand.

Personally I would blend 2 images together. The original and a smoke stock image.

You can see clumps of brush in this one..

Try this link. It was the first google link. http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/2187-24-Clouds

Download and double-click to install..this will most likely open up your photoshop and be installed. If you already have photoshop open, you will need to restart it. The cloud brushes will be in your brush palette. I would either make the brush as large as you can (size 2500) and/or give them a gaussian blur (filter > blur > gaussian blur) after placing them so they don't resemble clouds. The more you blur, the further/closer the dust is going to look from the camera, so keep the dust sharper when it's closer to the horse. Keep the brush strokes on a separate layer from your horse image. To get the most depth/realism you will have to clip out the horse from some of the layers of dust though to make it look like some of the dust is behind the horse and then put some unclipped dust in front.

This is also a good option if you can find an image that fits.

When you open photoshop, and use the brush tool. and you click once in the photo, it gives you a circle, right? Photoshop allows you to install brush sets that look different. They won't be circles, but other complex designs you can use and put where ever, literally like a stamp. There are several kinds, and I am very sure you can find them in google with many different designs.

Here's a site with some brushes, for example (there are many on google) http://www.brusheezy.com/Brushes

I have also looked in the gfx design forum, and they have a sticky with a brush resources section, here is what they had posted (free of course):

http://veredgf.fredfarm.com/vbrush/main.html
http://www.dubtastic.com/resources.php
http://photoshopbrushes.com/brushes/10.htm
http://www.freephotoshop.com/html/free_brushes.html

Which version of photoshop are you using? I can maybe search for you on how to install them in photoshop. But it's quite simple I think if you want to try it on your own.
