Money received, photos downloaded by client who is very happy
It's too bad people here don't like those, cause people pay extra for textured photos and these 3 got me 95$ in my account :)

But we dont care what people pay when we're critiquing a photo =/ People pay a shit ton for selectively colored photos too but we all know its horrid technically.

But comments are supposed to make peole learn how to improve their photo..
And if I listen to the negative comments about some editing that brings me money, and I change to what clients don't like, then it is not a mean to improve... follow me?

No, so we'll just have to agree to disagree I guess.

i think every effect is useful some times, but you should keep making money and artistic point of view separated most of the time.
And in my opinion, improving how much money you make by making stuff that is far from artistic is not really improvement at all.

i find it hard to get my point across on this matter. but art =/= making money.

I think the photo's are technically good, though i cant really judge that well because of the effects.
and as stated before, that font is terrible.

getting money for doing something you like to do, is a good thing.

edit: architecture analogy, regular untrained people don't really appreciate the buildings they are in, they can only dislike a building.
Good design is often not really appreciated by the big crowd, they just all want houses that look like they where built at the beginning of last century because they know its generally accepted.
edit 2: this architecture has nothing to do with art at all, just producing houses. Two very different aspects.
And ofcourse there area a lot of project developers that just want to make money, architects mostly want to put their own mark on it through artistic point of view.
If the resulting architecture is "good" is another matter.

Not sure why you don't like that font... I actually like it a lot!
Another one I often use is the Rose-something that really looks like the 'wanted' far-west posters :p
I think to have a good business running, which I'm learning as I go, is to adapt to the differnt styles of the clients.
People riding in barrel racing won't like the same style as dressage riders... they are totally opposite.
Barrel racers are cowboys and cowgirls, and unless you are part of such group, you have no idea what I'm talking about.
I'm trying to shoot and edit my pictures depending of the crowd.
So far doing so I see an improvement... for the barrel racing crowd anyways.. which is, according to you guys, soooo far from photography.
I think it's art nonetheless, cause I add something, a context, an emotion to the picture.
You look at the textured photo and you feel you are 200 years back (that was my client's expression) and cowboys love it!

In dressage shows, what is important is if the horse AND the riders are in a very good position. That is the first thing they look at.
THe best photographer can be the worst dressage photographer if he/she doesn't get the team in harmony.
In barrel racing, what sells is when the situation looks out of control, and very intense... like a rider losing its reins (sold one like this) and the horse still going...
If it looks intense, then it's a seller, regardless if the photo is technically right.
I try to combine good photos and the different styles.

Back to the choice of font, I can't use a nice handwriting type font for a barrel racing photo... it will really look gay.
On the other hand, I can't use the rosewood font on a dressage or jumper photo as it has nothing to do with it. Has to be more classical.

Technically speaking... can't use a wide angle while shooting horses in action, they wil look difformed.
Better step back and use a zoom.

Those are all little things that the common person has no idea about, unless you learn about the crowd...
I am still learning, but so far my results are very positive
In less than 2 months, almost everyone knows about my pictures in the barrel racing crowd :)

i believe most of you do not know her target market etc
ppl from different backgrounds and regions have totally different tastes and expectations
personally i do not like the editing either, but i do believe that she is servicing her customer base as needed

so great job
