the 50mm 1.8 is great, i would rather get that if you are starting out than the 1.4

for a starter i would go :

Zenitar 1.7 50mm

Yashica 1.7 50mm

Helios 2.0 50mm

all 3 are cheep and very, very good !
Try and google it you will see few samples and belive me you wont be disapoint :)
