when I need to crank my iso up, and I still want control over aparture, I use manual mode combined with auto iso. This is great with zoom lenses imo!
I adapt the shutter speed depending on focal length, and I use the aparture I feel that I need, then I let the auto-iso do the rest. This gives me the lowest iso suitable for my current settings!

I use a d7000, I find auto-iso very useful.

yeah perfect use
obv you need a camera with good high iso performance

yeah, if you buy a camera with bad iso capabilities then you won't need auto iso either :P

yes. i would love auto ISO on my camera, i would use it over AV mode(that i use pretty much all the time)

Correct me if i'm wrong. But i thought auto ISO was in the "ISO selection menu" where it will adjust your ISO to give you a sufficient shutter speed for the type of lens mounted. (Adhering to the 1/focal length rule)

and what do you do in a club where the light can change in 0,3 sec? Can auto ISO be useful there if I want to have constant shutterspeed and constant apperture?

You use slow sync flash, club lights are just there to add atmosphere.

If photographers managed to shoot for over a decade without being able to change ISO at any time, you really shouldn't need to change it from shot to shot.

To a point i agree, however we have the technology now at our disposal its seems archaic not to progress photography alongside with technology.

People always survived without AF now look.... times change, technology changes. Go with it?

And you shouldn't need to change Iso after initial set up, but again variable conditions can create extreme circumstances

:D
