main problem is your aperture, try using an aperture no less than f/11, f/22 etc would be better
therefore longer exposure, and obviously iso can be dropped down as low as possible
always try shoot with lowest iso possible

let me know how it comes out

Ooooh, I'm definitely going to try this out! Thanks ! But what if I come across a situation where I need a wider aperture to let more light in?

use a tripod

In most cases you will need around F/11 or F/8 and do not use your sigma at 10mm or 20mm, use it at 11-12mm, it is sharper that way.

Okay that makes sense. Cool, thanks for the tip for some reason this opened my eyes a bit. So if I choose another lens is it still wise to use an aperture of 11-22? Or does it depend on the lens?

Depends on lens.
Anyway f11 is usually fine.
Watch out for diffraction when shooting f16+

It's got to do with light. When you close down your lens (aperture), the hole which lets the light in gets so small that it starts bouncing around everywhere, thus creating distortions.

It's on an island called "Hornby Island" - you'll first have to take a ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo then drive to Courtenay, then you'll have to catch two ferries to get to Hornby Island. It's a nature walk that we went on, so you'll have to look for that.
