That depends. the 35 1.8 is a great lens in many ways but it's not some kind of portrait lens.

The 50 1.8/1.4 is a great short tele and can be used as a portrait lens on the dx format as well.


Would prefer to buy an 85 1.8 for portraits. You have a better perspective. 50 mm are walk around lenses, now people adapts them on small sensors, but I prefer to use lenses for they are born for.

Those shadows are badass.. It's a waste having such an expensive camera and then use the built-in flash that way! :P

85 on a cropper though...? 50mm on a cropper comes out to be 80mm.

So I was rude to a bride like 3 months ago on a presentation: she said real pro's use Nikon. I said good luck to her, then, and i'll gladly post-process her 'pro' photographer's orange skin tones.
Guess who has post-processing work to do now? mwahahaha

idk what nikon youve seen or have been using but mine is fine on skin tones
