What do you want to take photos of?

I'm planing to take pictures if i drive on Weekend in other cities like London, Paris, etc. to take pictures of famous buildings ... landscapes ... maybe animals ... just impressive moments :)
I'm going to create a Homepage of myself (for me) where i will upload the photos and i will see what i can do with Photoshop on the pictures. Photoshop i got already.
Also if i start something i always have the anticipation to do it well, so finally you could say i would be a ambitious hobby photograph ;)

Picture quality depends on the lens (80 per cent maybe, correct me if I am wrong). The problem with 60D is that it is more expensive than the 50D but it is far from the 7D in terms of AF system for example. Of course if you want the camera for hobby and to shoot some vacations you can buy the 60D, there is nothing wrong with it. Just compared to a 7D it is not as good. And if you buy a 50D which should be cheaper normally, you will have more money for a better lens.

In Germany Canon EOS 50D 899€ and 60D 865€ ! I believe you that the 7D is better than the 60D but its at the moment to expensive for me as beginner.

Someone got ideas which objectives for my Plans would be a good choice ?

Get a Canon 18-200 for it then. That is good for everything.

If you want the more expensive version then get the following:
Canon 15-85 for landscape or buildings
Canon 70-200 for the animals

this is getting really old
if you didnt photoshop most pics then yeah it would be a prob, but seeing as all (or 90%) of us here do photoshop (even the smallest amount, saturation, wb, etc etc - like myself) then it really takes no more to correct the balance for skin tones

in this price range nikon do have the best

It's not old. I'm engraving it to everyone's mind that this is a problem that should be dealt with. The same way we laugh about photo techniques in the 70's, the future will laugh at this generation for obsessing over photoshop and not getting even skin tones right. It doesn't just take a quick photoshop to balance the skin tones - if that were the case, they'd have installed it as an automatic process in Nikon camera's software. To get rid of it completely, you actually have to do 2 layers worth of work.

Of course, if you don't care about the actual quality of your images, then that's not an issue.

Why would you comment about 'this price range' when Nikon glass is over-inflated? Sure, you'll save a hundred dollars on a body, but you'll pay ten times as much over your photographic journey when you invest in glass.

yeah i agree it is a problem, but not a big1, obv nikon hav higher priorities

in the entry and low level dslr price range nikon are better
nikon's 24-70 is cheaper, and i believe better
canon's 70-200 is the same
nikon grips are cheaper
it pretty much balances itself out, depending on what u are shooting

if anyone is paying 10x as much then they have a serious problem, and who knows what the prices will be like in the future

i am doing a serious upgrade of all my equipment atm, and am considering both canon and nikon ff, 24-70, 70-200 +++
the 5d is great as far as bang for your buck
i find nikon easier to use, and faster to change the required settings
its a tough choice to make atm
