Yeah, postprocessing does 50% of the work.
I would reccomend you to shoot in raw.

Agreed.

raw + jpeg if you need any pictures right away and dont have time to pp. Sometimes I forget about the fact that I only shoot in raw, then Ill go to print pictures and I cant remember why they wont show up xD

Marie don't you ever discount post processing. Sometimes you can't get the perfect shot, but you did an incredible median exposure that lets you raise brightness where you need it and lower it where you don't. Try something like this in photoshop!

10/10.

Unfortunately all I see in this one is a lot of noise and oversaturation :( Makes the picture seem really lq.

The funny thing is all I did was raise the exposure? I did raise exposure selectively, but no saturation at all.
Cannot use noise reduction on a screen shot unless you want to make it a blurry mess.

But then you'll be sacrificing IQ by adding some fill light and adjusting curves which will in turn increase noise levels. Doing NR will drop the IQ even more. There's just a satisfaction of doing it right in camera and start off with the best possible shot!

I'm not saying don't post process, but just don't rely on it. :P

You're not being fair lol. I worked on 60kb.

Dont use exposure, use curves instead. Its more natural looking, and used properly generates a lot less noise. Exposure is a killer when it comes to that. Also you can keep the dramatic lighting.

Plus, it looks, well, a little overexposed in spots now o_o You didnt save it and work on it? I did a little noise reduction.

To me, my cell phone, and the 2 screens I have on (which have been rather effectively calibrated) this looks underexposed. The only drammatic light I see are in the eyes.
In my version, nothing has been blown out, so I don't see why you'd call it over-exposed. But to each his own right?

Also, thanks for the curves tip. I was lazy :D
