I´d suggest practicing the manual mode, because that´s the mode you´ll be wanting to shoot in once you can handle the settings. aperture priority and shutter priority mode can be useful in some situations aswell, but the manual mode is much more important.
I used manual mode when I was learning to use the camera. It was a great way to learn the relation between ISO, shutter speed and aparture.
But now when I know that, I don't feel the need to use manual very often. I've learned how the metering system works instead, and I've learned which light measuring system works best for each situation.
When you know this, manual mode isn't needed in most situation. Except for when you use a flash imo
