Do you suggest me running with auto for awhile, Or racing foward (and getting lost) into shutter speed/iso/aperture

scratch the auto crap. that way, you could also be running around with a point and shoot digicam. I´d suggest practicing the manual mode, because that´s the mode you´ll be wanting to shoot in once you can handle the settings. aperture priority and shutter priority mode can be useful in some situations aswell, but the manual mode is much more important.

100% right, auto mode is never needed

and also learn AV and TV of course.

I used manual mode when I was learning to use the camera. It was a great way to learn the relation between ISO, shutter speed and aparture.
But now when I know that, I don't feel the need to use manual very often. I've learned how the metering system works instead, and I've learned which light measuring system works best for each situation.

When you know this, manual mode isn't needed in most situation. Except for when you use a flash imo :)

yes its good to start and practice with manual, to learn what all do and the relationship
but as said once you know this manual is rarely required, aperture priority for most shots, shutter for sports/action

hmmmm might be because I`m mainly shooting portraits, but I use manual in 95% of the cases.
