If you know what to buy, internet ofc.
If you need constant assistance, than find a dealer, but it is more expensive.
In my opinion, posting here you can have good enough information to save some bucks and buy from the internet...

It can help also to find a photo club, or a group of friends, so that you can test lenses before buying them.

You can also try between friends of your parents etc, sometimes the only way to really understand is testing personally.

That is why Canon and Nikon are >, because you can always find someone to exchange, trade, sell, buy...

you could read some reviews of the cameras. For example :

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos7d/

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos5dmarkii/

And also go to the shops and take them in your hand. Play with them. And do not believe anything that the shop assistants tell you, they have no idea about photography, they just want to sell their stuff (at least in my experience).
