How bright were the 300 speedlights? Would you say they can overpower the sun (in your eyes, at least)?
Share some of the tips here!
Well, you can easily overpower the sun with half dozen speedlights.. Just imagine what 300ish can do ;). The auditorium was roughly 400ft x 150ft with a 30 feet ceiling, we had enough flash power to blow out the entire auditorium and turn it nuclear

It was very dark inside too.. with my 5D II, i'd to struggle to get 1/25sec with ISO 4000 at f/2.8.
As for tips.. I think the most important one that they mention that really stuck to me was
not to strive for technical perfection. Sometimes a little redder/ greener here/there is what makes the image. One example was this photo. The legs have lost detail, but if he (David Hobby) was to correct this with flashes, it would kill the entire photograph.
Excuse the photos i post today. They were all just "snapshots" to help me remember things taught that day with my notes.

Besides that, we also learn about lighting image in layers etc.

These below doesn't exactly relate to anything but just snapshots from that day.
Joe McNally (I know legs are cut off.. but i was all the way in the back and still had to crop with a 200mm on a 7D.

David Hobby the Strobist.

Joe McNally demonstrating a shoot.

The front half of the room with speedlights for McNally to play with.

Portion of them pre-fired (Lol @ pranksters trying to highjack)

Resulting image.

Different Angle of the room. (Didn't get all the flash to fire that time, some people were sitting down blocking the line of sight)
