the 50mm will definably be added to my lens line up as soon as i purchase the camera.

i could afford the 24-105L the month after the camera, i know it sounds ridiculous but should i not be put off by the maximum aperture?

You can always recover that lost speed with an ISO bump. Keep in mind that FF cameras have shallower DoF compared to crops at the same focal length and aperture.

yes that makes sense, i never considered it in that way before. i will look into it.

i realise L series lens' are the way to go but OMG they cost mega bucks!

and the sigma 50 over the canon?

and am i right in thinking an ef 50mm with appear a different focal range on FF than cropped?

Are you planning to make money off your equipment? If so, consider the 70-200 L non-is

Standard zoom mang.

Tamron 28-75 = greatest bang/buck standard zoom for FF.

And vouch sigma 50 again. <3 mine.

IQ and sharpness wise it's equally as good. Get it if you don't mind the loud AF mechanism and lower AF performance in low light.

Check out the lens sample thread here ;)

but you need to get lucky with tamron if you want a good copy that can come close to canon.

i highly doubt that tamron has as good micro contrast as canon. 24 to 28mm focal lengths has quite bit of difference, but if you dont care about 24mm, better focus, build etc, tamron would be a good choice

I think you'll be surprised by tamron's QC and IQ. I was unlucky enough to get a dud unit (but to be fair, i bought the showroom demo unit which no doubt has been abused).

There are very little reports of QC issues on the tammy. The 24-70L wasn't that great of a lens to begin with and to be honest.. i wasn't impressed with mine.. heck the 15-85 was a better lens IMO.

I'm impressed with mine. Almost as sharp as a prime. Did you micro adjust?

No, i noticed that if i ma with zooms.. one zoom range will be fine but the opposite end will be out of wack.

At least in my experience it did..

My copy is sharp, i've posted samples of it.. but not $1200 sharp.

Maybe i'm just so used to shooting with my primes lately :/ The uber good copy of the 15-85 IS i had didn't help either :D
