I don't know about that...She's going to have issues keeping the shutter speed high enough.  The only way to get sharp pictures will likely be to pan with the players.  This will result in blurrier background but sharper players rather than sharp background with blurry players.

Hmm - I will try both :)

Try to keep your shutter speed above 1/320. Preferrably 1/500 to stop action.

Indoor sports is not a strong point for the f/4L IS.

Also use center point and AI Servo to AF.

Okay, good to know. Thank you! Yes, unfortunately indoor sports is not a strong point, but I figured only that it was pretty bright in the place that it would work well (It's actually a brand new building). I'll give it a shot, and post the photos up if they're not too embarrassing. :O Also, the only way I'll get photos as well is if there are enough players (I will be playing soccer in the mean time while taking pics, talk about multi tasking).

When you say to use the center point... do you mean to change it instead of all 9 AF points, just use the center one?

Even if it is not a low light lens, look what I did:

You will love the lens!

Interesting. Well, I know the soccer field is a lot brighter than that. Thanks :) I can't wait to see how it will perform... I hope it doesn't highly disappoint me.

Always select your own AF point. Never let the camera choose for you!

And yes, use just the center one because that's the only crosstype AF point you have on your Xti.
