My biggest problem, aside from having no experience in light painting and working with 2 people who don't have any experience either, is I don't have a external flash to light up the subject :[

the hardest part when it comes to light painting for me is the focusing. you dont want to end up with a completely blurred painting and it´s quite hard to find the right focus in the dark. but other than that, you should really just try it out with different settings and in different situations. it´s a shitload of fun really. I dont have any of my old ones on this drive I think.

Thanks for the help guys.

Right now I'm just practicing some light painting on a wall.
Planning on using it for my picture of the day [for my 365].
Suprisingly it's going pretty well, got used to writing/drawing in the air some-what.
I just can't figure out what to write/draw to make it interesting.
Any suggestions? :P

I was planning on making the quote something like "The world is your canvas"
Since you're basically drawing on nothing.
But the word "Canvas" written in light was kinda boring.

It's also fun to try with a laser pen on a wall, too! I played with that a bit, LOL I was highly amused.

Wish mine still worked :[
I did try the flashlight on the wall.
You could see my hand in a few spots, but meh.

Wish I was good at graffiti :P

Why not draw a frame around that? you can use more than one source of light, you have 2 hands :D
Also don't hesitate on turning off or blocking the light source so that you can leave some space or to post process some of what you want.

I only have one LED flashlight laying around, lost the other one somewhere in my car :[
I'm thinking about going out and buying some different types and experiment more with light painting.
And I did turn off the light in between letters, but in the pitch black I lost the reference point between each letter so they ended up being close :P
All of my post processing is done with the Canon software that came with my 450d, and all that does is sharpness/hue/contrast/brightness/saturation.
I don't know how to use Photoshop :[
