85mm f18
also a wide angle prime, not settled on which 1 to get yet
prob here is that lenes are over double the price as in the US

Don't get the prime wide angle. The 14-24mm 2.8 is the fucking tits. And tits are awesome.

that is a possibility, but was thinking a 24mm will be fine for me
i dont like indoor/architectural photography, so no need to go that wide

You're shooting with a cropped sensor... 24 x 1.6 = 38.4 No need to go wider than that? Get the 14-24... SO much more versatile! Plus if you aren't shooting indoors, chances are you won't be needing the 1.4 for extremely low lighting. 2.8 is plenty fast enough. Get it. Or I will cry.

will definately look at it then
i shoot alot of night shots, so the 1.4 would help

now that we are on this subject, regarding the 14-24 should i go for the nikkor or mayb a tokina etc?
i hav heard some good reveiws on the other brands in the wide catagory

There is nothing on the market currently that can compete with the Nikon 14-24. It's that good of a lens, some even argue it's better then canon wide angle L primes.

Nikon has the best wide angles on the market. Hands down. You'd be silly to not to get the Nikkor as its the best wide angle zoom out. The only problem is the filters. You'd have to spend a little extra for a filter holder and nicer filters. But spending more on filters is usually a smart thing to do.

Most Canon users that have a huge need for wide angle lenses are buying the Nikkor 14-24 and using the adapter.

Not bad, your composition is nice in regards to the building shots.

Be careful when extracting detail out of shadows when the shot is dark, the file will start banding.

I think the shots would be a lot more striking if taken during sunset/sunrise light.
