I think he'll say it depends on what you're using it for. he says the mkII is the best wedding camera in the market for its price hands down because of the amazing iso capabilities. Combine that with a fast lens and you're set

No he won't. He'll say 5D hands down. Won't matter to him what it is being used for.

I'm trying to act like those Nikon zealots who swear on their life Canon is the worst brand in the world.

meh don't mind him. There are quite a lot of members in here who seem to have the same kind of personality as our dear blackrose.
haha it is funny to see there are extremists even when it comes to camera brands.
I would imagine a war between canon and nikon users. It would be like my Canon is better than your Nikon! Kill all Nikon infidels :D

Canon makes good cameras but they also make crappy ones like the new EOS 60D and the same can be said about Nikon.

5d2. More mp, better colour rendition, 1080p video. Doesn't accept half frame lenses like the d700 does (really stupid of Nikon to allow this imo)

Yeah, might not have the FPS/AF system, but it makes up for it in other areas. The AF isn't that bad anyway, only people who can't focus properly make a big deal out of it lol

After working on hundreds of Nikon/Canon files a week, I've come to the conclusion that I'd take a 5dII over a d3/d3s.

When was the last time you needed 6400iso? Or needed to focus in poor light where there were no contrast points to pick up?

+ the d3/d3s has a fairly average megapixel count.

I've found Nikon files to exhibit a lot of blue on light tones which sit in shade/shadows.

The Canon sensor seems a lot more balanced and neutral.

That's what I have heard too. Together with high quality lenses the 5D2 really shines and according to some
the quality of the images produced by that thing is even better than the a lot more expensive 1Ds mk3 :O

lol It took me almost 4 months to save up for that camera and now I am just waiting for the price to go down hopefully before Christmas :D

I have x3 5d MK II's for a reason. I work with a French photographer who has 3 D700s. Your choice depends on what you will be using it for.
I'm only going to repeat what everyone else said: the D700 has a better frame rate and better auto focus. It's also got more buttons to customize everything a little easier. It's a great camera. If you'll be shooting with plenty of light or if you'll be shooting subjects that are moving faster than 20 MPH and need more than the center focus, go with the D700.
If you're going to shoot stills, low light, anything less than 20 MPH, and you're going to emphasize on the center focus, then the 5d MK II is best.
In other words, if you plan on making any real money with your new cam you ought to get a 5d MK II unless you're shooting horses, racing, or sports for money - for that i'd go for a 1D.

Iso performance: better than anything out there for a similar price.
Iso 6400 = usable shots up to 8x10 prints (more if post edit).
Iso H1 or H2 = usable up to 8x10 with post noise removal.

People used autofocus for dozens of years. The AF isn't bad at all if you know how to use it. I have a problem with the AF system perhaps 1/300 shots where it doesn't focus fast enough.

Btw guys I'm not a Canon fan at all. I just chose the best camera for the job I do. If I was shooting anything but events, I'd go for a 7D or a D700 or even save up for a 1D.
