Well it's Nikon D3000 but I guess it really depends on how fast and how much you want to learn about photography. I think you will really like Nikon D90 since you can use almost every single Nikon lenses out there with that camera while D3000 can only use certain lenses.
If you want to go Canon then you should definitely look at Digital Rebel T2i. It's generally better than D3000 and can use all Canon EF / EF-s lenses.

Both are good, I suggest not getting THE cheapest camera though. The feeling of the camera in your hand is very important, at least to me it is.

As far as the T2i goes, the HD video is definitely a plus, however, if you have bigger hands I would suggest getting a battery grip, I need to buy one so my hand doesn't hurt from how small the body is.

Canon d3000 doesn't exist... I have the nikon d3000 but not canon... The d90 is also a nikon

Well it really depends on how much you want to spend but Nikon D90 is the lowest Nikon camera you want to get
the D3000 has just too many limitations. Then save money for some high quality lenses.

It does have limitations but you can work around some of them
