wow great. I have a 50mm 1.8 aswell, but somehow I barely use it, since I am finding myself more comfortable with having the kit lens on, even tho I really hate it, because it´s BAD ! Maybe I should put the 50mm on aswell and do some macro / protraits.

Ok here's what you do. Find the tallest building you can, and throw the kit lens off of it. :)

Then you have no choice, but to use the lens that isn't crappy. :D

These are great! I think you did well for only using the 50mm for so long, I think you inspired me to do the same :)

I am using a Canon 50D with a 50mm 1.8. The last photo is the 18 - 55 kitlens (Which I lent from my brother).
It is quite interesting only having one lens. You learn how to maximize your skills with limited possibilities and equipment . I have learn a lot only using my 50mm 1.8 for 6 months. From composition to light.

Yeah, I gotta say that I am impressed by the fact that you took those pictures with just one cheap lens.
I hated the nifty fifty I had only because it's so tiny and plasticy and because of the inconvenience of not being able to change focal length but lately I have started to shoot more and more with primes too mostly because of the shallower DOF they offer.

Put the nifty fifty on and keep it on imo...

There are a few better and not much more expensive alternatives like the f1.4 version which is only 300 bucks more and produces images with much better bokeh.

Ooo.. Very nice, and nice to see some photos from you again. The flower one has to be my favorite. What did you do as far as post editing?

Thanks kratos. :)
What do you mean? What I did for editing, or what I did before that?

I love #2. Love the depth presented and the water droplets!

Thanks. I was bored by the traditional flower photos.

Well. The kit lens is not bad - but it could be better. You can make some good results with it. The last photo is made by the kitlens, although it is a HDR photo.
It is hard only having a 50mm - you miss a LOT of shots.

Haha. Find your own style kiddy! ;) :P

Keep it, I would not miss a shot just because I throw away my kitlens. xD

It pushes the limits of your creativity and understanding of the parameters when shooting - So why not do it ? :D

Thank you Futurama. :)
I have seen some of your prime photos and indeed they have a shallower DOF and image quality.
We all have our favorites, but I personally miss a fast wideangle. Haha. :D

You answered your own question there :p
Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a smartass :p

It sounds like you need a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 :p
Didn't you have a Sigma 10-20??
I think in a way those primes have kinda made me a lot more picky when it comes to sharpness which is the only thing I hate about my Sigma :(

Sure I need a tokina 11 - 16 2,8 but I do not have the money. :(
Nah, ATM I only have the 50mm - Then I somethimes borrow a 55 - 250 and a 18 - 55 from my brother.

Yeah, the sharpness of a prime is addicting! :P
