I think you will like the T2i. It's a pretty nice upgrade over the A300.

Yeah, I was sorely disappointed with the A300 after a while. I need to learn to do some better research when I buy things. O.o

Hopefully I will be able to get around $600 or $700 for my stuff and then buy an X2i body, 50mm 1.4/f, and maybe a zoom lens.

I checked it, the main upgrades were better shooting for videos and a better metering system.

And an external microphone connection = WIN!

As far as 50mm 1.4/f lenses for Canon go, the Sigma 50mm 1.4/f HSM is the better choice? Assuming I want to spend the extra money.

Definitely. Check out

very helpful forum with tons upon tons of information. There are also lens sample picture threads.

Also: With the 1.6x crop factor of the T2i. A 50mm lens is essentially the same as a 85mm on a full frame camera. A 30/ 35mm is closer to a "true" 50mm field of field.

It seems it's settled then. Well as long as I can get as much money for my gear as I would like.

Though I think I will miss my 28-300mm.

How so? The optics aren't exactly sharp and the barrel is very loose, even when it is locked. Other than just being able to go from 28-300mm focal length, it doesn't have a whole lot going for it.
