I don't know enough about Sony/ Minota lenses to comment on the subject. But if you ever decide to jump ships to Canon. It's worth the investment for alot of people.

First off, the Canon 50 f/1.8 II is a "budget" prime lens, sure it is sharp when stopped down, but the build, AF, bokeh, leaves the users wanting more. The Canon 50 f/1.4 is a very old design and just isn't even a match for other competitors in the market.. The contender and "crown-holder" is the Sigma 50 f/1.4 EX HSM lens aka "Sigmalux". That lens is crazy sharp, buttery smooth bokeh (just as good as the $1.5k Canon 50 f/1.2L), color rendition and AF is blistering fast, the build quality is top notch. Alot of users agree that the Sigma 50 f/1.4 is 90% of the Canon 50 f/1.2L at only 35% of the price.

Obviously the Canon 50 f/1.2L is at the top of the pack, but alot of users complain about the focus shift on the lens. It's caused by the design of the lens, and since it was only just recently "upgraded" to replace the original 50 f/1.0L. We wouldn't likely see a Mark II anytime soon. Guess you'll have to live with it or get the Sigmalux.

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. I don't have a problem with this.
