That is cool - I have only seen owl's when I was a kid at a farm where they kept a couple of them. I don't really remember it that much though. I do remember months after our class going to that farm, I was searching every building, tree, sky for an owl because I really wanted to see one out in the wild. I never got to see one, and still to this day I have never seen an owl in the wild like you did! :D

It was such a great experience!!!
We usually go to the mountain daytime, but that day I wanted with the kids after school..
Ofc it is always long to get them ready and fed, then it's a 30 minute drive..
They were tired, had their school week done and were extremely cranky...
And on top of that, the mosquitos were desperate....

When I saw the owl and told the kids to stop moving, I was trying to get closer while my daughter, who is a fan of the Kratt brothers (Zooboomafoo) and knows everything about wildlife, was telling me that he could attack me!!
Those black eyes... I'll always remember them.. staring at me, not happy to be disturbed.... then that howl... just like a wolf.. so loud and threatening!!!

I went again in the morning a couple days ago, and I spotted the exact same tree I saw him the first time...
Are owls territorials?
Meaning, if I have a chance to see him again, will it be in the same spot, or is there a random chance it will happen anywhere in that forest?

Next time I'll be more prepared and less impressed...
I'll think about setting my speed to 1/60!!!!
For now I just consider myself lucky I can prove with a photo I actually saw a real owl
