The setup was not that complicated, really! I drove to the outside of the city, found a turn-in off of the highway and parked in there. Set up my tripod and tried my best to get it non-blurry with manual focus, and just hoped that it would turn out. I took several shots and tried to get the settings/focus right.

30 Second exposure
5.6 F stop
400iso

I also took this one in RAW/Jpeg mode, but I haven't edited it at all yet.

i wish i had a better camera, i live in phoenix and during certain times of the year (and going a bit to the east) theres amazing lightning storms, just amazing, but alas, my 3-year old 8mp vivitar has issues

Aww... you don't have a shutter option? Even if it's a shorter shutter than 30 seconds, you could still probably capture something!!
