why not a point and shoot? im not a professional..

Go get the point and shot camera. You'll never need a DSLR if you just take photos once in a while and you want to carry it around everywhere. :)

P.S- Chicks look at me when i walk around with a huge DSLR and long glass on my camera.

This. Rented the 100-400 L. On the mark II, it gives point n shooters penis envy.

New dslr's aren't huge or heavy in any way imo. They're all made of plastic and pretty much weigh nothing. Carrying one around will not burden you.

I have the one that's 70$ more expensive. Its not bad for a point n shoot.

I don't think you'll find an answer here. All of us here have seen how much an improvement it is from the crappiest DSLR over the top of the line consumer P&S.

The only recommendation for a P&S is the Canon G9/G10/G11. Then ofc we have the Leica and Ricoh, but those are overkill for your use.

Edit: I used to own a Sony cypershot t77 (Got it for my birthday a few years ago, $320 P&S). When i first got it i was like ZOMG.. this is is GG. But then the XSI totally destroyed it in terms of image quality. The noise is really apparent even at low ISO.
