the idea a lot of people have that professionals dont worry or talk about their camera gear just not true. Everyone does. If they didnt, why do they still have the most expensive stuff available?

Of course they do. But the point I was making is that they won't overly fuss about it, they will just get the job done. The pro's I've worked along side over the last few years rarely spoke about gear. It was always about lighting.

Just jump on any major forum (ie. POTN) and see all the gear whores and "pro-am's out there talking about their equipment.

This man has the right idea.

Amateurs worry about their gear. Professionals worry about light.

Haha how ironic, I always find myself having problems with light :O but of course it gets better each time.

Yes, I can agree to that! It takes a lot of practice to get this part right and looking swell.

You are right about light. That's why I made a glove-like attachment where I use an aluminum surgical light to help the camera's auto-focus. Manual focus in dark venues = a guess sometimes.

I was just thinking that this is what I was thinking when the whole power went out on my side of the city  it was very weird to not see lights outside!

camera technology is extremely important when utilising light. if you have an slr learning how to use the settings to achieve the correct exposure is more important than anything.

but agree about the filters and they are SO cheap. yesterday i picked up some old cokin grad filters and a polariser from a random camera shop second had, and they were £2 each.

remote shutter realise is also important but a steady hand and i tripod is just as good.

I can recommend Cokin filters to every photographer. Ive been using these for quite some time now and it works great.
