I also shot a lot with the 70-200 2.8 at uni but I prefer the F4 IS. It's much lighter and I can't trust 2.8 is low light shooting (1600+) It would be best suited as a studio lens imo

maybe you should wait for the sigma 70-200 with image stabilizer. also if you shoot weddings indoors you should use prime lenses mostly. i would consider 35mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.4

Nah, stick with fast L series zooms. The last thing you want to do is fuck around with primes, changing lenses and miss a shot :/ Remember, it's a wedding, nothing will get enlarger past 11x14. Just has to be sharp.

I've shot weddings on suggested lenses (24-70 2.8, 70-200 f4 IS) @ 800/1600/3200 and that's on a 5d I. He has a 5d II remember so his high iso performances are pretty unreal.

His iso of 1600 would probably be better than mine at 400 haha

You, sir, are bright. I thank you for your opinions and support. I ordered exactly what I suggested, with other accessories& flashes, & lenses. I just wanted someone to tell me the ok to get waste the 7k off my bank account :(
I'll take a picture of gear when it arrives and be sure to post pictures as soon as they're available.

Don't most wedding photographers have multiple bodies?

Awesome mate, you will not be disappointed. Plus you can play around with focus micro adjustments to get it dead on :D

If I could suggest one more thing... another 5d II body :)

Yeah, I walk around with 5d's and the 24-70 / 70-200 combo.

Even use my boss's Nikon gear every now and then when we dual shoot (D3 and D3s) I cannot praise the D3s enough, it is a beast!
