im no expert, but imo 2nd looks much better, shoes look grittier and more realistic, its his old running shoes, not his new running shoes^^

You don't have to be an expert to have an opinion, thank you :)

Personally I think that brings out the details more. Mainly in the laces and fabrics. I prefer the second much more and for that reason only. We all have our opinions though...

Yeah I agree, the black dirt in the front part of the shoe really makes it out now, and now when I studied the old one, I find the greyish tone a bit
desirable as well, so my thought is kind of split in half now, but I do think the second one of these looks more clean in some way.

I took this pic as a tribute to my old running shoes.
I had some problems with the white balance so I erased yellow/orange/blue completely out of the picture, and after that the shoe looks so clean I just couldn't help but love the result.
It's so detailed and clean that I'm starting to think about getting a print of this one (both as a wall decoration and as a motivational :P )

the ambience of the first image matches what you're trying to portray: old shoes. The second shot messed that up.

You got a good point there.
I think I'd need another perspective to catch that feeling a bit better, maybe from the side, or catching a bit underneath the shoe, to get that feeling a bit more :)
Maybe the inside or so.

My picture growed technically at the 2nd one, but it lost it message on the way, I didn't think about that one.
Thanks a lot :)
