nah, you can get eny magnification with eny lens if you use enough extension tubes.

i think you should pick the right focal lenght out of those, personally i would take the 105mm. 50 or 70mm would give bigger area in focus, so you dont need to use that big f-numbers, but you allso need to get really close with them. what kind of macro shooting are you planning on?

that 100mm is L macro is basicly the best choise, but allso costs around 1000€.

what comes to fish eye add, you should use wide angle lens for it, even 15mm fish eye on crop camera loses bit of the fish eye effect. i have never heard enyone actually using those fish eye adds on normal lenses. are you sure that they arent for point and shoot cameras? quality with fish eye adds cant be other than really poor or more people would use them.

well im just afraid the magnification wont be as good, because my friend has the tamron 300m its a 1:2 and the performance on it that ive seen isnt up to my standards :P but maybe it was caused by the camera she uses and other things, im not sure...
i think the type i would take would be bugs that are already dead, unless i run into something i can take at a close distance without distracting it.

yeah if i got the L macro then i would of spent all my money. :(
i still want a telephoto wide angle.

the add on is a wide angle fisheye, but you can take them apart. ^_^

well the tamron 300mm isnt a macro lens, noe i think its very good lens enyway. if you shoot macro with 300mm you need to get camera really steady or use really fast shutterspeed to get sharp pics. real short shutterspeed combined to really slim focused area caused by so long lens, you need to use f/22 to get even useable focused area

for bugs something around 100mm would be good, but good luck finding bugs in the next few months :P . if your lucky you might find a dead one between windows or somewhere like that :D

sorry but you cant get good tele and wide angle in same lens, you need a zoom for that and zooms arent good enough for macro(if you want even desent quality), unless its some really good lens then the resaults may be useable.

maybe ill find a bug collector! gross. >.<

the tamron 300mm is a 1:2 macro lens.

so should i get the

70mm or 105mm?

or go for canon?

the 70mm is more expensive than the 105mm

and what is this?!

this tamron? http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/70300_di_a017.asp

its not real macro lens even tho it says macro, same on meny sigma zooms. real macro is coinsidered 1:1 on full frame

i doubt that there is eny difference on iq between the 70mm and 105mm, or maybe wide open but no one macros wide open, you need f/16+. you do know that macroing needs quite alot of light? imo the 70mm isnt long enough for macroing, but that depends on what you shoot at, for bugs get the 105mm imo.

Number of diaphragm blades means the number of those blades that sets the aperature. basicly more blades = rounder bokeh balls = softer bokeh, but the 105mm has awesome bokeh and one blade less doesent really make eny difference

forgot to mention that sigma 105 gets longer when focusing and canon 100mm(non L) doesent, if that makes difference and you dont care about canon costing bit more, you could go with the canon. but canon is bigger, with lens hood its the same length as the sigma with lens hood and focused at its longest(dunno if the lens is long when focusing close or at infinity)

f/45 on the 105mm is really nice, but it allso needs hella lot of light.

leave food on the tables and dont clean the house and if your lucky you might be able to get some flys there :D

If you want a macro lens I can recommend tamron 90 / 2.8.
I use it and I love it! :)
