Let me preface this by saying that I frequent these boards very rarely, so I'm confused as to what sparked the antagonism in this thread. I understand that you're dismissing the troll comments that are all too common here at d2jsp that something is either "the-best-thing-since sliced-bread" or "absolute-shit," but a bit of modesty in just ignoring them goes a long way. Having looked over your pictures, you have some decent stuff but for your sake, I hope you grow out of the overly-defensive attitude as it will certainly help you improve.

As for the actual post, Zach Arias is pretty well known among commercial photographers for his One Light series. If you haven't seen it, pool some money together with some photographer friends, because he has pretty good tips for portraiture using very very inexpensive gear. Once you start playing with off-camera lighting, you'll start drooling for radio triggers (get Chinese eebay ones) and such. Getting studio quality soft light on subjects even on the go is what separates the mediocre commercial photographers from the one's who are truly impressive.
