Black - thought you were leaving the forum like weeks ago because you couldn't take other people's opinions. It's weird, it's like you ask for opinions on something then totally freak out when people say anything that's different than what you think.
I'm not a photographer, but I am an artist. So I can't critique your photographs except saying that it does not look appealing TO ME. If it does to you, then fantastic, but I'd honestly like to know why it is you constantly post looking for some sort of advice then you can't take it. It makes NO sense to me. I've seen you do that both here and in graphics section -_-

My personal opinion (even though I know you wont listen) is:
I'm not even sure how a staircase *is* in fact abstract in the first place. Maybe that's where you're mistaken. So far as I understand it, abstract art has no recognizable shapes, I mean that's what the definition of abstract is : "Art that does not depict recognizable scenes or objects, but instead is made up of forms and colours that exist for their own expressive sake." And, isn't abstract photography more like - minimalism... you take a photograph of something really small? I thought I had read abstract photography still held to the general rule of abstract art as a whole.

Vertical Black and white Infrared shot, with no main focal point, under a vertical theme.

Here actually, email the prof...
boder@sait.ca
Ask him about the vertical abstract project for his class.
Then leave a comment.
And not something along the lines of "not saying its crap, because you would just get raged"
Because that's bullshit.
Astragany is the only one who can be making comments like that.

Here's the assignment...
Vertical Abstract

1. Surprising Angles and Point of View Find an interesting subject. It can be anything you want but DO NOT photograph it from normal eye level or a straight on view. Point your camera up or down, or skew it sideways at an angle. Get blow and behind something or above and closer to it. Try shooting something from a as many different vantage points as seems interesting. Do anything that you can safely do to get an unusual vantage point.

2. Diagonals Lines can do all sorts of things in your photographs. horizontal lines tend to be restful. Vertical lines tend to be stable or supportive. When lines leave the frame so does your eye.
Diagonal lines lead your eyes into and around your composition. They create movement and action. Diagonals leading to the subject are very effective. Look for a subject with diagonals. It can be anything you want, landscape, still life, architecture - just make sure there are diagonals in your composition.

3. Unrecognizable Find a subject that you can photograph in a way that makes it unrecognizable yet creates an interesting composition. Be aware of what makes the composition interesting.

4. Extending Beyond the Frame (closure) Play with the idea of parts of something being in the picture and parts of something being out of the picture. Experiment with cutting off different parts of your subject. Get real close and fill beyond the frame forcing the viewer to imagine what lies outside the frame. See what makes it interesting. Does the way you frame a picture create mystery? Tell a story? When your subject interacts with the edge of the frame, you create positive and negative space. Consciously play with this positive and negative space.

5. Unexpected Visual Relationships As you frame or compose your pictures, look for visual relationships, shapes or lines that are mimicked by two separate things unexpectedly, or shapes that are implied in a thematic way. Look for or make parallels or connections where they don’t normally exist.

92/100 on my assignment handed in Tuesday.

You wanna keep posting "not gonna say it's crap youll get raged" shit???
Then do better than me. I'd like to see it.

lol. I'm not going to email your professor. I don't have to contact a professor when I have google.com to answer whatever questions I have (and yes, believe it or not, google knows more than your professor does, considering it's millions of opinions compiled into one)
Learn to take criticism. That's what this is about anyway - not my idea as to what abstract was based on what I've learned/read. I have no idea, like I said I don't photograph stuff. But I do know you need someone to hug you IRL.
