Nice! I have a canon 1.8 and I just love it! ^_^

You don't always have to be professional to take wedding photos :) I could have done a wedding but they canceled it! :O I was kind of thankful they canceled it though, I didn't have near as much gear as I do now!

cool ;D
Well he used the plural form which made it sound as if he had done several D;

I generally shoot about 3-4 weddings a month. I spend the rest of that time doing portraits and concert shots for The Rave in Milwaukee, WI

I don't know how professional those people wanted your photos to be but from what I have read your 50mm lens and 430EX flash with a diffuser should be enough to get some good portraits but you may would have to walk a lot to be able to get some good shots or crop some of the pictures extensively.

Great shot academic.

50mm 1.8
85mm 1.4
17-55mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
300mm 2.8 (given to me by the company...as its like $5,300)
SB-600
2x SB-800
Dynalite RK10-2303 portable flash kit,
light stands with the hot-shoe/umbrella clamp for the flashes (Great buy btw)
Stroboframe flash bracket

I also bring a Sony VX2100 video camera and set it up on a tripod with a wireless mic for some easy transitions in the sideshow DVD.

Yeah I got two weddings this year to attend and I'm going to try it out. One other reason why I bought my 50mm :) Although I do not have a diffuser.

Wow! Lucky you lol. I've always loved weddings mostly because of the food and doing pranks with my younger cousins like put salt in people's beers when they aren't looking xD
Anyway. You probably want to get a diffuser before you go blind people with your flash :p

Here is a short guide about flash photography:

...and this is the diffuser I got and it fits your flash as well.

Some external flash units come with one built in (see a picture of my Canon Speedlight’s sliding diffuser below - it is not in use in the one on the left and IS in use on the right).
