Seriously? ....
I though this shit was gone for a bit.

Anyways Chantal, if you could find the rain sleeve brand your using, or perhaps a review on it. I'll probably be looking for one sometime soon, once the storm season gets over here and the storms become more
active. (July/August.)

Lol - the comment was a multi-account probably.

It is a OP/TECH USA sleeve. 9.95 + tax! And two came in a pack. It must have been some kind of promo thing.

This is exactly what I bought: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469774-REG/Op_Tech_USA_9001132_18_RainSleeve_Set_of.html

Click the "read reviews" after you scroll down a little bit. It's pretty much a piece of plastic, and after a little while it will get warn out... but it's only 10 bucks for two.

Wow very impressive!!!
I guess some luck has to be mixed with the work to get the perfect timing and alignement.....
I tried it last night cause we ahd a big thunderstorm and I failed miserably....

if you want to laugh he's how I tried......

No tripod...

Aiming where I thought the next lightning would strike....

And yes, call me noob..... ..... but I tested my reflexes and clicked as fast as I saw the hint of a lightning.......

How many did I get???

none :(

and btw... when you see multis working on their post count, please do not lower yourself to their level in quoting them....
Just report them to me when they post more than 2-3 times in here....
Thank you :D

Ok... I need a good camera AND a tripod.....

nvm... I'll stick to flowers and sunsets......

Hey - if you could get a tripod you could get some lightning shots! :) It's okay, I've tried to take lightning like the way you did before too, and I failed miserably too :(

What you have to do is set your shutter speed to a very low one, such as 20-30 seconds (highest your camera can go, if you can change it). Of course prop it up on a tripod and fire when you think lightning will shoot. You could get more than one bolt in one picture!

I try not to quote multi's but sometimes it's just nice to fire back at them ^_^

Well the slowest shutter speed you could have on a Canon A570 IS is 15 seconds but it's still doable and you can get some really cheap tripods at Walmart. I bought mine for like 40 bucks because I couldn't find any good ones I like at the local camera store and I couldn't wait and miss a lot of opportunities lol.

I only got one decent shot out of 19... well, I'm not sure it's so decent, but the lightning bolt is awesome! (in my eyes)

The storm came and left pretty quick. Normally I'd go outside the city to take a picture, but it was raining and I have nothing to cover the camera. So I took some from outside my place :D

Speaking of this - they make rain covers for cameras right?

The lightning itself is very nice. You framed it well between the trees. Watch out by the buildings to the left of the photo though, they're burnt out. If you're doing photos like this you should try pointing the camera away from unnatural light.

Yes, I know. That's why I stated previously that I wished I would have done it on the outside of the city, but I had NO rain protection. :(

OMG that's awesome!

You're definitely pro with lightnings!

On a side note, don't use an umbrella to take those pictures, might be risky ;)
