Your only choice with Nikon is the D40 for that price range. It will take pictures that are hundreds of times better than your cell phone - but you might be able to get a used D60 for the same price. The D60 will probably get you better results, but its about $550 new.

Also, why does that 02/03 bug eye not have a hood scoop in your sig?

-they're both big hitters
-neither is best
-it's whatever suits you

In general, cheap canons are better than cheap nikons. Expensive nikons are better than expensive canons
In general, Canons have poorer autofocus systems in the mid-high range cameras, but make up for this with better lenses

Right on, bro!

I'd say, anything will work for you. Go with a Canon; as what doyleo said. You're probably wonder4ing what an auto focus is - and to be honest, when I first picked my camera, I had no clue what anything was xD

haha that kinda reminds me of when I bought my first dslr. If I remember correctly it took me like a month or longer of reading reviews, forum posts and asking around before I finally decided on which one I wanted to buy.

Haha. I remember asking for advice on which camera to buy... I ended up not even listening to everyones "what I should buy" and just went with my own... usually happens that way for me with most things.

Well in this case you were right! lol
Your camera is really neat and it's one of the reasons why I chose Canon as well.
I just wish the price on Canon lenses aren't so extremely high :(

Supply and demand does that to ya... and especially with very popular things.

haha! You sound almost like someone I used to know who was all crazy about economics and boring stuff like that xD
What's really unfair is that prices on those lenses in the US are sooo much lower than here :(
