Too bad the guild thread is almost dead, aside from the occasional post.

Yeah - I know. I tried to make a post here about it so more people would know but the topic got closed (back when I first started the guild).

hmm have you tried finding a job online? It's actually quite easy to find job here except those jobs are mostly fastfood related lmao!
Well at least we have Walmarts and Superstores here and I am trying to get a job there ^^

Anyway I've always hoped there would be some kind of Off topic general chat in this subforum where we could just have a nice and decent conversation which is kinda impossible to have in the General chat forum -.-

.. without getting below 2 words each reply. ;)

Nah, I live in a little town, and I think it is better to show my face to the people I am hopefully are going to work for. :)
We got a Burger King, but I do not like fastfood restaurants. I to be creative or do outdoor work.

I don't blame you for working in fast food; I tried it and lasted a week. It's just shitty work and you don't get paid well. Then all the other problems arrive such as short staff (so you have to work even harder), crappy pay and customers that complain about food. I spose it would be good in those places if you were a manager/supervisor.

That would be cool to do work for the town, like example mowing the lawn or picking up the "garbage" and cleaning parks. You can do that here and make very good money. Plus you get to be outside in the summer and get a nice sun tan while you're at it :) But good luck finding a job, I am sure you'll find one.

In keeping with the general discussion threads found in other subforums, a place for us to chat about things.

Anyway, I'm looking at hiring a studio for a day sometime this summer, just need to conceptualise the images a bit more, I've got two definite shots already, but I need more ideas. I might have to invest in a proper lighting course.

What do you need help with in terms of lighting?

I've got some experience :)

Well I think all the restaurant jobs are the same it doesn't really matter if you work at mceedees or a fancy restaurant for millionaires people are all the same except those rich people are mean in a special way like sarcastic and picky while those average slobs are more openly rude if you know what I mean. I guess I have just got used to working at restaurant serving people since I have been doing that at the age of 13 lol but I could loose my temple sometimes and at my current crappy job I am known to be rude to the customers because I am not the kind of person who would just stand there and take all the shit I would defend myself so screw the "customer is always right" crap lol. Oh btw being manager is not much better than a regular crew member because they are the one who have to deal with complaints and rude customers not to mention they are the ones who would hold responsible if anything goes wrong... plus they only get like a dollar or two more per hour which in my opinion is not worth all the crap they get all the time lol but you get to slack from time to time and treat those newly hired people as your slave lol.

If you mean by working for the city and picking up garbage. Well though it's not a good job but I wouldn't mind doing that for a month or two during the summer ^^ but of course as you said it's not really a respectable profession but neither is working at fast food places lol.

I have three cameras right now and I'm confused as to what the whole millimeter thing is. On one camera I have a 5x zoom and it says something like 2mm-30mm on my other digital camera is has 6x zoom and it says 5mm-35mm.

I also have a film camera that is probably about 6 or 7 years old and it says 5mm-170mm zoom on it but there isn't a multiplier zoom.

Do optical multiplier zoom and millimeters have any correlation?

Yup. :)

5x zoom, does not say anything about how long or short focal length it has. It could be from 1 - 5mm or 100 - 500mm.

Simplified:
High mm - Closer to subject.
Little mm - Wide angle.

When you look for new lenses, always go check out the mm, bot the multiply number.
