I can not. xD

When the camera is set at manual mode A-dep, M, Av, Tv, P the flash do not have assist beams, but the flash will flash when I hit the shutter button, but the camera will use the settings if the flash was disabled. Like 10" secs and so on....

Try to look if you have disabled the af assist beam from custom functions.

im not sure if that flash has built in custom functions or can you change them from your camera. But you might be able to change it from camera custom functions. Enyway check the camera custom functions(Fn image/flash), if you cant change it there, then put the flash on camera and look if there is option for external speedlite control, if there aint eny then pick up the manual and look where you can change them.

What? you cant change the shutterspeed? You using some auto mode or manual? If your using some auto mode, just put the camera on manual mode and flash will match the flash power to what ever shutter speed, iso or f-number you got on camera. If its not too dark i suggest you will use the cameras settings, so that the exposure meter shows -2 to -1, allso dont shoot the flash straight at the subject. Pull that white paper(what ever its called) and that softener screen out, and set the flash to about 45 degrees so that the white paper reflects light to subject and other light goes around the room.

Allso dont be afraid to crank up the iso if you need to have more get more background light, since all that flash light hits wont be nearly as grainy

uh just a question out of curiosity. What were you doing shooting in full auto mode with your flash attached?:P

Well I can't really answer any of your questions or help you in any kind of way since I have only used my 430ex ii twice so far lol.
