Nah, I just had it like that trying to get the entire background black, since the backdrop was small.
It wasn't meant to be like that though.

I was focusing on making 1 petal (The bottom one) in great focus and detail.

Didn't seem to get your focus right then

If you look near the bottom left petals, one of them is more in focus than any of the others, which is what I
was trying to achieve.

well i dislike the shot angle, id like to see the flower more straight on if you know what i mean and maybe would have used a slightly smaller aperture. but i do really like the black backdrop - good thinking mate

Do you mean looking at it straight on?
That's the worst type of Flower Photography you can do. It makes it boring, because that's what everybody sees when they look
at a flower.

for flower shots, it's ideal to get lower to the ground, from a low perspective.

yeah but i mean more straight on, not dead straight on, that would be silly. maybe at like 45 degrees.
