I think circuiting is less of a problem than getting dust on your sensor biggrin.gif
I've removed the lens while having my camera turned on once too ^^

Dust on sensor is easilly cleanable, so its no problem at all.

there are loads of products that u smear on the sensor to clean it, or just blow it with a airblowing device - but dont blow it with your lungs or with compressed air because you can do damage. smile.gif

What doyleo told or then just use a lens pen. When i had the 1d mkI i just used my lungs to blow off the dust, it didnt do eny damage to the camera, if you want to be more carefull and dont want to buy eny products, maybe you could filter the air from your lungs with stocking or something like that(but still do it carefully and im not sure how much it helps, but it should filter the spit atleast), but be sure there isnt eny dust in the stockings(or what ever fine fabric you would use)

EDIT: oh and the more often you change lenses the higher the risk that you get dust on your lens. I am not saying that you shouldn't change lenses or play around lol but sooner or later you will probably have to buy yourself some sensor cleaning equipment and read that guide you posted tongue.gif.

I'll probably just get a pen; sounds less complicated.

What is short circuiting?

There is an electrical current constantly running through the lens and the camera body.
It interacts (Hence the focusing, zooming etc.)

When you abruptly break the circuit, as with any electrical current you can cause it to short circuit itself
and blow the fuse which produces the electricity.
=Dead camera.

Happened to a friend, he did the Fstop thing then took the lens off sad.gif
