i disagree.
since you know nothing about cameras and are going to france a flim camera will only take a limited amount of photos (however much film you buy) and you have to develop etc when you return. The next problem is when you do develop your photos and want to show them to a group of people in a presentation you're gonna have to scan all of the photos. and remember with a film camera if you make a mistake once ur likely to make it another x amount of times without knowing that you've made it until you get all of your spoiled photos back!
a point and shoot digital camera and the Panasonic TZ5 should dodge all of the problems ive mentioned and you will take much better (not necessary quality) but much better shots.
hope this helps!

5 rolls of 36 exposure 35mm is both cheap and will allow more than enough photos. And with a half decent, cheap camera you can just leave it in auto and the photos will be fine. You also don't have to worry about sensor quality, photo quality will only depend on the quality of the lens.

well we r gonna make a poster after our trip for our class, and i was also wondering if all cameras can take those panoramic view pics
You can get special panoramic cameras and lenses but they're expensive photoshop works for editting them but doesn't look as good as the real thing.

no, you take a series of photos and software puts them together. there are possibly a small amount of camera that can do this inbuilt but dont bother spending your money on a feature that will work much better on software
Correct hardware will produce much, much better results, just look at some of the wider meium format cameras to see what I mean.
