Ya but that means landscape pictures arent easy. Bad ones are easy, but of course i was talking about good ones.

The difference between a good landscape photo and a bad one isn't really to do with technical photographic skill. Given two photographers have the same technical skill, the one that knows the area well and spends time hiking and stuff is going to know when to go out to take the best picture.

There are lots of things you need to take into considering for a good landscape photo though, which reminds me, I need to get a set of graduated ND filters.

Anyway we've sort of gone off on a tangent, haven't we. We should ask a mod to let us keep a general photographic discussion thread.

Landscapes are probably the hardest pics I ever tried to take.
It's easy if you are ansel adams.

I like the pic of the statue, maybe a bit to centered.

Ansel Adams spent a lot of his time hiking, you can be sure he took some bad photos.
I'm not trying to say that taking good landscape photos is easy, but knowledge of the region is just as important as photographic knowledge.

I wanted to capture the arm and part of the upper body, so I didn't have all that many options in framing it. It might look better just capturing the upper shoulders and head, and the rest being sky, I'll have to try again if it starts snowing again.

maybe you should use dof more and/or get closer and get wider.

The snowflake in front of the mouth is actually kind of cool, looks like the statue is breathing out.

I was on the widest aperture my lens would allow, didn't particularly want a huge area of sky in the photo either. It's supposed to snow on friday though, so I'll shoot a few different angles and see which one ends up looking the best.

The snowflake looks more like a blur at higher resolutions though, unfortunately.

Sarcasm my dear. We both had valid points.
