Let me assure you all that she is not cold by any means tongue.gif
She is so fat and has a thick winter coat, hence the snow not melting on her but just accumulating on her back wink.gif
If she was cold she would be in the shelter with the others......

That's no way to talk about your girl! lol.

Where is the picture taken? Looks like what it was like here in Canada a couple days/weeks ago.

She looks more uh fit than fat tongue.gif.
Well maybe that picture was taken somewhere in Saskatchewan course I doubt there are many other places on this planet that would get that kind of freaky weird weather biggrin.gif

I like the feel that the 'failed' one creates. I think it's more interesting than the full body shot you posted after.
Check out Tim Flach, and his shot "Horse Mountain". He does some pretty incredible horse photography.

There are many places in Canada that could have that weather, not just Sask. Sask probably has the least of it, haha. Ontario, and down East, have a lot more.

Well, OK I meant Canada not only Sask then and of course I was not trying to diss this nice and flat part of Canada lol tongue.gif I am still amazed by the combination of extreme low temperature and strong wind it's nothing you would experience in Europe except for Russia of course lol.

This is one I took... but the light was not ideal and I was on the wrong side of the horse..
But I was just freezing with the wind and snow....

what do you mean by the wrong side of the horse?

i thought the near side was the correct side to take photos from!!

it's just a thought but possibly crop the first photo you have posted. I think it would look better, but this is just my opinion! smile.gif

Wrong side...
I meant by that, I was facing the light source, even if it was behind thick clouds, so the horse looks darker....
I still don't know how to (or even if I can do it) play with exposure on a digital camera....
But I had to stay close to the barn, protected from the wind... since I couldn't wear gloves using my tiny powershot camera....
I'm telling ya, it was COLLLDDDD!!!!!!

I was not planing on doing any artistic pictures, but wanted something I could sent to my Southern friends to help them imagine how cold it can be In Canada (South Shore of Montreal here)..

One problem I have with taking pictures of my own horses, is they alway get too close to me when I get in the paddock....
I can take pictures of myself with them if I hold the camera away... but otherwise it's no use..... Even if I run away and turn around to take a pic, they will already be leaning on my shoulder to get hugged tongue.gif
My failed picture was not intended to be anything but be deleted..... but the more I was looking at it, the more interesting I found it to be...
You may all tell me I should crop it or include an eye in it..... it was accidental and not planned in any ways rofl.gif

Holy cow! lol I didn't know that it could be that cold in Quebec as well. I mean it's so close to the ocean and places close to oceans are usually warmer but I guess Canada is different biggrin.gif
You know in this kind of cold weather gloves wouldn't do much good course I have been walking around wearing a pair of leather gloves and taking pictures but my hands would normally start to freeze after only 10-15 minutes ohmy.gif part because of the metal body of my camera and the black color lol.

Yeah im having the same prob. I usually try capture them when they are galloping round or ill end up with some noses shoved up my lens biggrin.gif!! As to the exposure there should be an exposure compensation scale from -x to +x if you move the slider to +1 or if necessary +2 the horses should come out properly exposed.

I think you've done the right thing by not throwing this picture away. The only pictures that should be thrown away in my opinion are ones that are heavily blurred or taken by mistake, and are really disliked.

Those are seriously cold temperatures and less than most cameras are designed to operate in. So well done.
