But that's doing exactly what somebody else has done...stealing their idea. (Also not very creative)
I'm not going to help to steal another Photographers ideas.

Its not stealing, well of course you copy the idea, but its not illegal or anything.

But what i was going to say, is that it might not be so easy to take exactly the same pictures. Since most professional photographers have expensive equipment etc to create an effect.

Good luck though

He did not state copying the style.
He stated "reproduce their photo"

That would be stealing.

IF he did however intend to try the style/technique (Like Lomography, Camera Tossing etc.) Then that would not be stealing.
However, I was under the impression from

Our assignment is to choose a photographer and take pictures just like his or hers.

Which sounds a lot like stealing to me.

Sorry if I mis-interpreted.

You could have Googled' "Famous Photographers" MUCH easier than asking here however.

Rose, you really have no fucking clue when it comes to Copyright, do you?
No he's not stealing anything, and if you think anyone in the photographic business truly comes up with their own ideas, you're completely delusional. Are you even going to pretend any of the images you've taken are completely free from any sort of outside influence?

To answer the OP though, I'd suggest Edward Weston, in particular his still life images, they're very famous, and it's very easy to replicate his style.

I did not say the IDEAS.
I was under the influence he was trying to replicate the exact same image as somebody else...that's stealing.

...And buddy, I have my own International and Canadian Copyright. (Check my website, I had to apply for that in Nov 08)

No that's not stealing stealing would be taking a photo of an artist's photo and claiming it's your own, which is not something the project brief instructs you to do, presumably.

If you knew about Copyright you would know you don't have to apply for it, merely putting your own work on the 'net is enough to have a claim.

LOL!! Are you serious?! In my province, we have to apply for it and to get a business license as well in order to claim
ANYTHING to do with Photography on your taxes.

Maybe not for you, but it is here.

Sucks to be you then, athough there's no point if you're not producing work people would want to steal.

The OP is definitely not breaking any sort of Copyright laws with his project though even if he directly replicates an image.

I've already stated twice that I mis-understood his question and explained why.
Can you read?

And, "suck to be me"
Not really, because after getting accept you get to claim camera gear on your taxes as something you need to perform your job.
Which means I get money back from the government smile.gif

Although I'm not too sure whether you're getting confused between business laws and copyright laws. You certainly don't need to be a business to have copyright claims to things you've produced.
