Well as the others have pointed out #1 is the choice if you want to put a decent picture in your graduation book. The background is just amazing! Kinda makes me want to be there NOW! lol
I think for some reason those point and shoot usually produce overexposed images in broad daylight at least that's the case with the pictures I took with my old p&s.
btw which EOS film camera did you use when you took #1?

the camera doesenr matter really on the image quality on film cameras, its about the lens and the film

then why would people buy expensive film cameras that don't come with a lens?

because theyr better to use and there might be some extra features on better cameras, like spot metering, faster fps and stuff. Light goes straight thru the lens to the film, so there isnt enything to effect to image quality on the camera itself

I see...
I guess it's pretty much like the quality of those image sensors in DSLRs which together with the lens determine the quality of the photos taken. haha I am sure if they put the sensor in EOS 5D mkII into the body of a Rebel XTI the result would be a camera that is equally good, image quality wise. biggrin.gif

number 1, if you edit number 2 and increase the brightness you might get away with it, but stick with first.
