wow u got some twisted prices there, if 450d seems quite low priced compared to 40d there, you sure those prices are up to date? Since after 50d came out 40d price dropped quite lot here, but 450d still is about the same as before 50d. 450d isnt really that much better than other cameras in the same price range(nikons are nearly just as good, but lens selection sucks unless you want to manual focus), allso u can ger 400d body only for like 350euros here, thats really less more than what 450d is and its about the same camera, 450d is just made with sugar on top to make it look better, like with live view and better lcd.

hang on, ur confusing me:

Canon EOS 450D (EF-S 18-50mm lens) = £500
Nikon D60 (VR 18-50mm lens) = £350
Canon D40 (EF-S 17-85mm lens) = £750

im not a pro photographer, and dont wanna spend over £500 on somthing i might be shite at!!

wow didnt know the 450D is that expensive there

well I know in Canada the price difference between 450D body and 40D body is over 300 Canadian dollars and in Sweden its about the same or around 2000+ Swedish kronor

well the kit lens for 450D is inferior compared to 17-85 IS USM for 40D
and 40D got better and more sensitive AF, much better high ISO performance, faster etc etc

Compare them side by side. These cameras have the same image processor and the same sensor, just the XSi has 12.2 Megapixels while the 40d has 10.1

40d looks way better on that sample pic.. But that kind of sample pics doesent really mean much since theyr shot in a perfect situation, ull notice the difference in real life more

You'll notice the difference in a high ISO setting since the 40d has the same size sensor just with less megapixels. But the XSi still does pretty well in high ISO.

lets just put the 40d to one side for a minute, if the d60 and 450d were sat in front of you, which one would you take? plz say reasons for ur choice
