I know 80% of people would't suggest this but I do.

Before i had trippod I used all kind of ceilings and stuff as "tripod", but it might ruin images because of minimal movement that still happens =)

well then you need a remote trigger for your camera ^^
hmm I have heard that you can create fake hdr in photoshop
do you know how to do that? ohmy.gif

you can change exposure when u shoot raws and edit them, change exposures different on same pic and continue normally as with differently shot pics. There might be some other ways, but that came in mind.

Actually you don't do the whole process in photoshop

If you want to do fake HDR use one RAW image ( or jpeg if you dont have SLR)

make it to multiple fake exposures, with RAW they come out best but also JPEG and the exposure tool works.

Then you bring them to photomatix, compile and tonemap. The dynamic range won't increase much but the result is pretty much same, mostly people whine to you that its not TRUE HDR but hey, who cares.

I personally don't use FAKE-HDR method much, only when I see hard subjects, where using trippod is too hard, but then I usually don't even HDR/tonemap it.

There's a few different ways to do HDR. Different programs can automate the post process aspect such as Photomatix or PS.

Here are two articles on the subject which gives you data on how to do it.

http://www.naturescapes.net/072006/rh0706_4.htm

http://www.backingwinds.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-create-professional-hdr-images.html

In a nutshell just remember when taking your photos that you follow a couple of rules.

1) Use a tripod
2) Turn it on manual, focus how you want it, keep the aperture consistent. Keep the ISO consistent.
3) Bracket -1 0 +1 or any combo thereof of atleast 3-5 exposures per HDR image depending on the scene
4) Best to use a remote trigger or cable to take the pics because of motion (or use MLU) ... a cheaper tripod might slightly adjust with your push on the shutter (mine doesn't but I spent 1k on it with the ballhead.)

Here is a sample of an HDR image I took of Seattle. (Yeah its an external site but flickr is pretty recognized as safe).
